Nikon FE2 Nikkor 20-35mm f/2.8 Fuji Velvia 100 January 2015
It is a beauteous evening, calm and free,
The holy time is quiet as a Nun
Breathless with adoration; the broad sun
Is sinking down in its tranquility;
The gentleness of heaven broods o'er the Sea;
Listen! the mighty Being is awake,
And doth with his eternal motion make
A sound like thunder—everlastingly.
Dear child! dear Girl! that walkest with me here,
If thou appear untouched by solemn thought,
Thy nature is not therefore less divine:
Thou liest in Abraham's bosom all the year;
And worshipp'st at the Temple's inner shrine,
God being with thee when we know it not.

Jesus Walks on the Sea
Matthew 14:22-36 NKJV
Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.
But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
And Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus. But when he saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!”
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

Orion seems to be running northward along the crest of the Sierra Nevada as this full February Snow Moon illuminates the windswept peaks rising high-- west of the Alabama Hills. The intensifying gusts lift up sand and dust like a fine mist in the distance across the dark land as the moon climbs ever higher and brighter into the cold and clear night.

God’s Spirit Poured Out
Joel 2:28 NKJV
And it shall come to pass afterward
That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
Your young men shall see visions.

The last in a series for an unexpected and rare odyssey of a comet hunt. A high vantage point and a single shot… and a beautiful evening. As before, I did not want to combine images to construct a painted canvas fantasy for the viewer. Not for the persistent and fiery Neowise. It reportedly took nearly seven thousand years to come to us- all in one piece! This single moment is real: The desert cities, the mountains, the hazy midsummer twilight sky, and the comet.
